Anchored by two of their most popular recordings, "You Keep Me Hanging On," and "Love Is Here and Now You're Gone," this LP features Holland, Dozier & Holland (HDH) compositions and productions, and it ranks among their best.

The Supremes' renditions of songs popularized by label mates illustrate the interchangeability of HDH's songs. Ross's soprano may not have the bite of Ron Isley's tenor, but she still does a better than average job on "I Guess I Always Love." Two Four Tops' remakes, 'I'll Turn to Stone," and "The Same Old Song," are just as groovy as the originals. An update of Martha & Vandellas' "Love Is Like a Heat Wave" fails to live up to the dynamics of the original.

The Supremes fue un grupo de música pop y soul estadounidense, formado exclusivamente por chicas, que interpretó canciones de distintos géneros musicales, desde el doo wop a la psicodelia y la música disco. Se formó en 1961 en la ciudad de Detroit. Sus primeras integrantes fueron:Diana Ross, Mary Wilson y Florence Ballard.

En este Disco Cantan Canciones de Holland-Dozier-Holland que era un equipo de composición y producción musical formado por Lamont Dozier y por los hermanos Brian Holland y Edward Holland, Jr. El trío es responsable, en gran medida, del éxito del estilo conocido como Motown Sound, que dominó en el campo de la música popular en los Estados Unidos durante la década del 60.
